Earth From Space 500 Million Years Ago
This is what Earth would have looked like from space in the Cambrian period, 500 million years ago.
Notice that the continental land masses are not yet separated and they are in different positions.

You can see these changes in the continents better at the end of the video than at the beginning. So be patient.
The simulation was made by the Planetary Habitability Laboratory at the University of Puerto Rico at Arecibo.

Here's what they say about it.:
'Earth during the Cambrian Period was relatively warm and without polar caps. Most of the continents resembled deserts and were clustered in the southern hemisphere. Life was small and not complex and mostly in the oceans. There were no land plants but fungi, algae, and lichens probably greened many land areas.'
